Drs. Karl and Gaston Schwarz
Gaston Schwarz, M.D., FRCS(C), FACS
Born and raised in South America, Dr. Gaston Schwarz received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Syracuse University. He received his M.D. from the University of Ottawa Medical School, graduating Cum Laude. After having completed 3 years of training in general surgery, he spent two years training in plastic surgery at McGill University. Following this, he completed a fellowship in aesthetic surgery at the University of Miami under Ralph Millard, M.D., one of modern plastic surgery's pioneers. Dr. Gaston Schwarz began his career and built his reputation as a professor of plastic surgery at McGill University, where he continues to teach. He is now considered one of Canada's most respected esthetic plastic surgeons.
He is former president of the Canadian Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, current national secretary to the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the only non-American to have been president of the D. Ralph Millard Plastic Surgery Society and Education Foundation.
In 2000, the Peruvian government decorated Dr. G. Schwarz for his humanitarian work over the years. His international reputation continues to draw patient from all over the world for a variety of procedures.
He is a board-certified fellow of the American College of Surgeons and The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Karl Schwarz, M.D., M.Sc., FRCS(C)
Dr. Karl Schwarz received his Bachelor of Arts degree in biology-chemistry from Skidmore College. He went on to complete a Masters in physiology and biophysics at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. He graduated from The George Washington University School of Medicine with honors, receiving his M.D. His 6 years of training in plastic surgery were completed at Georgetown University Hospital, one of North America's most respected training programs. During this time, he published research papers and textbook chapters on breast reconstruction. In 2007, he joined the plastic surgery faculty at McGill University, where he teaches and performs a wide variety of reconstructive procedures to treat accident victims, people with birth deformities, and cancer patients. His sub-specialty and passion remain microsurgical breast cancer reconstruction (performing DIEP flaps) and aesthetic surgery of the breast, face, and body. He is a board-certified fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. |
